Getting Ready for Cam
Before customers can start Cam Sessions with you, you'll need an accepted Cam Listing. Need to create or update a Cam Listing first? Check out Cam Listings.
Cam Listings use your Availability settings: Listing Availability and Call Status. When both settings are enabled, your Cam Listing will display the Cam Now button, letting customers know you’re available for Cam requests.
- In Account > Listings, set your Cam Listing’s Availability to Accepts Calls.
- On your Account page, set your Call Status to ON (Taking Calls).
Choose Cam, Phone Calls, or Both
Your Listing Availability settings let you choose which types of sessions customers can start while your Call Status is ON.
- Cam only: Set your Cam Listing to Accepts Calls and your Live Phone Listings to Mail Only.
- Phone calls only: Set your Live Phone Listings to Accepts Calls and your Cam Listing to Mail Only.
- Cam and phone calls: Set both your Cam Listing and your Live Phone Listings to Accepts Calls.
Receiving a Cam Request
When a customer clicks Cam Now from your Cam Listing, you’ll receive an incoming Cam request in the upper-right corner of the NiteFlirt page you’re viewing.
The incoming request shows:
- The customer’s Member Name
- The Cam Listing they’re requesting
- Your per-minute rate
- Quick access to Customer Details, including customer information, Notes, and Tags
- Accept and Decline options
If you’ve installed the NiteFlirt Progressive Web App (PWA) and enabled notifications, you’ll also receive a push notification when a customer starts a Cam request.
If you decline the request, the Cam Session request will be cancelled and the customer will be notified.
Good to know: Just like with phone calls, you can only be in one live session at a time. When you’re receiving or actively on a phone call or Cam Session, your Call Now and Cam Now buttons will display Busy, so customers won’t be able to start another call or Cam Session with you.
Joining a Cam Session
After you accept a Cam request, you’ll enter the session setup screen. From here, you can preview your camera, check your microphone, and choose whether to join with your audio or video turned on.
If your browser or device has blocked access to your camera or microphone, you may see an option to open your browser permissions and update the affected setting.
You can still join the Cam Session if your camera or microphone is blocked. The affected control will remain off until permission is granted.
Billing starts when you’re both connected. The customer isn’t charged, and you don’t begin earning, until both you and the customer have successfully joined the Cam Session.
During Your Cam Session
Once you’re connected, the controls around the Cam window let you manage your camera, microphone, layout, Customer Details, and the session itself.
Session Controls
The controls along the bottom of the screen let you:
- Turn your camera on or off
- Mute or unmute your microphone
- Open Customer Details
- End the Cam Session
Camera or Microphone Off
You can turn your camera or microphone off at any time during the session. Turning either device off does not pause or end the Cam Session, and billing continues until the session ends.
When your camera is off, the customer will see your Storefront image until you turn your camera back on.
Layout Controls
You can also customize how the Cam Session appears on your screen.
- Hide or show the customer video panel
- Swap views to change which video appears larger
- Enter or exit Full Screen mode
Leaving the Cam window? Your session remains active if you switch tabs, switch apps, or answer a phone call. Billing continues until the session ends, but your camera and microphone will stop transmitting while you're away. When you return to the Cam Session, simply turn your camera and microphone back on to resume sharing video and audio.
Customer Balance
Customers can add funds to their account during a Cam Session without disconnecting. If a customer’s balance begins running low, they’ll receive a Low Balance alert.
If their balance reaches $0 before additional funds are added, the Cam Session will end automatically.
Viewing Customer Details
During an active Cam Session, click the Info icon to open the Customer Details panel without leaving the session.
From here, you can:
- View the customer’s Member Name
- See when they became your customer
- See when they joined NiteFlirt
- Review your total earnings from that customer
- Add or remove Tags
- Create or edit Notes
Receiving Tributes
Customers can send one-time Tributes during a Cam Session. When a Tribute is sent successfully, you’ll see a confirmation in the session, and the Tribute will be added to your balance.
Ending a Cam Session
Either you or the customer can end the Cam Session at any time. Once the session ends, billing stops automatically.
You’ll immediately see a summary that includes your session length, earnings, any Tributes received, and a link to View Session Details.
Reviewing Cam Session Details
Click View Session Details to open the Cam Session Details page in Transaction Details.
The Cam Session Details page includes:
- Earnings Breakdown: The total customer cost, Connection Fee, NiteFlirt commission, and your earnings
- Billing Information: The customer’s Member Name, session start and end times, and duration
- Session Feedback: The customer’s rating and written feedback, if any
- Listing Information: The Listing title, category, topic, and per-minute rate
- Session Quality: A place to report technical issues or tell us how the session went
How Cam earnings are calculated: The customer’s total session cost includes a $0.20 per-minute Connection Fee. After the Connection Fee and NiteFlirt’s 30% commission are deducted, the remaining amount is added to your account balance as earnings.
💡 Tips for a Great Cam Session
- Test your setup first. Use Account > Availability > Cam Check to test your camera, microphone, and speakers.
- Close other apps using your camera. FaceTime, Zoom, or another app may prevent your browser from accessing your devices.
- Use a reliable internet connection. A strong Wi-Fi or wired connection helps keep your video and audio running smoothly.
- Use headphones when possible. They can reduce echo and background noise.
- Keep your Storefront image up to date. Customers see it whenever your camera is turned off.
- Need to switch devices? Sign in to your NiteFlirt account on the new device and click Join Cam at the bottom of the page. You’ll automatically disconnect from the previous device.
- Stay in the Cam window whenever possible. Leaving the window may interrupt your camera or microphone while the session and billing continue.
Cam makes it easy to connect live, earn by the minute, and give customers a more personal experience directly on NiteFlirt.
