If you're having trouble starting or hosting a Cam session, the steps below can help you identify and resolve the most common issues.
Before troubleshooting, make sure you're using the latest version of a supported browser or the NiteFlirt PWA, and confirm that your Cam Listing has been accepted and your Call Status is turned on.

Not Receiving Cam Requests
If customers aren't able to start a Cam session with you, check the following:
- Confirm that your Cam Listing has been accepted.
- Make sure your Call Status is turned ON.
- Make sure you aren't already in another active Cam session.
- Confirm that browser or PWA notifications are enabled so you don't miss an incoming request.
- Refresh NiteFlirt or completely close and reopen the PWA.
Good to know: Having your camera and microphone on is not required to receive or start a Cam request, but you must allow access before you can host the session.
Cam Won't Connect
If the Cam session doesn't connect after you accept the request:
- Confirm that your device is connected to the internet.
- Refresh the page, then try joining the session again if the request is still active.
- Close any unnecessary browser tabs, apps, or downloads that may be using your internet connection.
- Temporarily disable any VPN or network-filtering service, then try again.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data if another connection is available.
- Completely close and reopen your browser or the NiteFlirt PWA.
If the customer disconnects before the session finishes connecting, the Cam request may close and a new request will need to be started.
Camera Isn't Working
If your video is blank, black, frozen, or unavailable, try these steps:
- Confirm that camera access is set to Allow for NiteFlirt.
- Make sure your camera is turned on within the Cam session.
- Close FaceTime, Zoom, Photo Booth, or any other app that may already be using your camera.
- If you have more than one camera connected, make sure the correct device is selected.
- Refresh the page or close and reopen the PWA.
- Restart your browser or device if the camera remains unavailable.
Did your camera stop working during an active Cam session?
If you switch to another browser tab, open another app, or your device displays a full-screen interruption such as an incoming phone call, your Cam session will remain connected, but your camera will stop sharing until you return to the Cam page.

Microphone Isn't Working
If the customer can't hear you:
- Confirm that microphone access is set to Allow for NiteFlirt.
- Make sure your microphone isn't muted within the Cam session.
- Check your device's microphone settings and confirm that the correct input is selected.
- Disconnect and reconnect any wired or Bluetooth headset.
- Close any other app that may be using your microphone.
- Refresh the page or reopen the PWA.
Did your microphone stop working during an active Cam session?
Switching to another browser tab, opening another app, or certain full-screen interruptions can temporarily disable your microphone until you return to the Cam page.
Audio Problems
You Can't Hear the Customer
- Turn up your device's media volume.
- Make sure your browser tab or device isn't muted.
- Confirm that sound is playing through the intended speaker or headset.
- Disconnect Bluetooth if your audio is being sent to another device.
- Refresh the session if the connection remains active.
Echo, Feedback, or Distorted Audio
- Use headphones or earbuds whenever possible.
- Lower your speaker volume.
- Move away from televisions, fans, or other sources of background noise.
- Avoid using multiple devices in the same room with their microphones and speakers turned on.
Frozen or Poor-Quality Video
Video freezing, delays, or reduced quality are often related to the internet connection. To improve performance:
- Move closer to your Wi-Fi router.
- Close other apps, browser tabs, downloads, or streaming services.
- Ask others on the same network to pause high-bandwidth activity.
- Switch to another Wi-Fi network or cellular data connection.
- Turn your camera off briefly, then turn it back on.
- Refresh or rejoin the session if the connection drops.
Tip: A strong and stable connection is more important than connection speed alone. Wi-Fi with a weak signal may perform worse than a stable cellular connection.
Session Ended Unexpectedly
A Cam session may end if:
- Your internet connection was interrupted.
- You closed the browser, PWA, or Cam page.
- You refreshed the Cam page.
- Your browser or device unexpectedly closed or restarted.
- You or your customer chose to end the session.
If your session ends unexpectedly, return to NiteFlirt, confirm that your Call Status is still turned ON, then ask your customer to start a new Cam request if needed.
Mobile and Progressive Web App (PWA) Issues
When hosting Cam from a phone, tablet, or the NiteFlirt PWA:
- Keep the Cam session open and visible whenever possible.
- Avoid switching to another browser tab or app during an active Cam session.
- Locking your device may temporarily pause your camera and microphone until you return to the Cam session.
- Incoming phone calls or other full-screen system interruptions may temporarily disable your camera and microphone.
- Make sure Low Power Mode or battery-saving settings aren't limiting browser activity.
- Confirm that camera, microphone, and notification permissions are enabled.
Mobile Interruptions
Certain mobile device behaviors can temporarily interrupt your camera and microphone without ending your Cam session. If this happens, return to the Cam page to resume sharing your camera and microphone.
Using an iPhone?
If incoming phone calls are set to display in Full Screen, they can temporarily disable your camera and microphone during an active Cam session. We recommend changing incoming calls to display as Banners instead. Go to Settings > Phone > Incoming Calls, then select Banner.
If the PWA Still Isn't Working
- Completely close the NiteFlirt PWA.
- Open it again and retry the Cam session.
- Restart your device if the issue continues.
- As a final step, remove the PWA from your Home Screen and reinstall it from your browser.
