Before you can host a Cam Session, NiteFlirt needs permission to access your camera and microphone. The first time you use Cam, your browser or device will usually ask for permission automatically.
You can also test your camera, microphone, and speakers anytime before going available for Cam. If you accidentally denied access, dismissed the permission prompt, or something isn't working as expected, use the steps below to check or update your settings.
For the best Cam experience, we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or the NiteFlirt PWA.
Camera and microphone access is required to host Cam Sessions. If access is denied, you won't be able to use the affected device during Cam until permission has been enabled.

Testing Your Cam Setup
Before going available for Cam, you can run a quick Cam Check to make sure your camera, microphone, and speakers are working properly.
To test your setup:
- Go to Account > Availability.
- Scroll to the Cam section.
- Click Cam Check.
- Follow the prompts to test your camera, microphone, and speakers.
Tip: It's a good idea to run a Cam Check before setting yourself available, especially if you've changed devices, connected a new camera or microphone, or updated your browser settings.
Google Chrome
- Open any page on niteflirt.com.
- Click the Site Settings icon to the left of the address bar.
- Select Site settings.
- Under Permissions, set both Camera and Microphone to Allow.
- Refresh the page if prompted.
Tip: If you have multiple cameras or microphones connected, Chrome lets you choose which device you'd like to use.
Safari (Mac)
- Open any page on niteflirt.com.
- From the Safari menu, select Settings for This Website….
- Set both Camera and Microphone to Allow.
- Refresh the page if needed.
Please note: If Safari is blocked from using your camera or microphone at the macOS level, you'll also need to enable access in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
Safari (iPhone & iPad)
The first time you join a Cam Session on your iPhone or iPad, Safari will ask for permission to use your camera and microphone.
If you denied permission, you can enable it again:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Apps > Safari.
- Scroll to Camera and Microphone.
- Ensure access for Camera is set to Allow.
- Ensure access for Microphone is set to Allow.
- Return to Safari and refresh the page.
Good to know: Leaving Safari or locking your device during an active Cam Session may interrupt your video until you return.
NiteFlirt PWA (Home Screen App)
The NiteFlirt Progressive Web App (PWA) supports Cam Sessions and gives you a convenient way to receive Cam notifications and access NiteFlirt directly from your Home Screen.
The first time NiteFlirt needs to use your camera or microphone through the PWA, your device may ask you to allow access. Select Allow for both your camera and microphone.
If you previously denied access, you'll need to update the camera or microphone permissions for NiteFlirt on your device before using that device during Cam.
Having trouble with permissions in the PWA?
- Check your device's camera and microphone permissions and make sure NiteFlirt is allowed to use both.
- Completely close and reopen the PWA after changing your permissions.
- Run a Cam Check from Account > Availability to confirm your camera, microphone, and speakers are working.
- If you're still having trouble, remove the PWA from your Home Screen and reinstall it from your browser.
Firefox
- Open any page on niteflirt.com.
- Click the permissions icon next to the address bar.
- Allow access to both your Camera and Microphone.
- Refresh the page if necessary.
Remember: If Firefox has been set to always block your camera or microphone for NiteFlirt, you'll need to update those site permissions before joining a Cam Session.
Still Having Trouble?
If your camera or microphone still isn't working after confirming your browser permissions, run another Cam Check from Account > Availability.
