Waiting on a direct deposit? Don’t worry -- if your payout is taking a little longer than usual, a bank holiday is often the reason. Most U.S. banks close on federal holidays, which can add extra time before deposits show up in your account.
Quick heads-up:
- This mainly affects Express Pay and Monthly Direct Deposit. However, the U.S. Postal Service may also pause or slow processing on federal holidays, which can delay the delivery of Monthly Checks.
- Holiday delays are normal -- your payout isn’t lost, and there’s usually nothing you need to do.
- “Observed” holidays happen when a holiday falls on a weekend and banks close on a nearby weekday.
